Nora, age 8, takes home kid’s baking championship title
On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Riverview Farmers Market hosted their first ever Kid’s Apple Dessert Baking Contest as part of the annual Fall Harvest Festival. After a fierce (and delicious) competition, local Jersey City Heights resident Nora, age 8, and her Apple Crisp Cookie Cups were crowned the Champions. Nora shared her secret with the contest judges, citing that she tried the recipe multiple times and multiple different ways before settling on the final submission.
In addition to the baking contest, the Market also hosted several activities to round out the annual Fall Harvest Festival, including:
- Live music from the Zydeco Revelators and The Fuzzy Lemons
- Entertainment from The Bubble Guy and juggler Sean Blue
- A fall-themed photo backdrop and temporary tattoo station
- 50/50 raffle
- And a full lineup of local farms and vendors
